My candle is emitting a lot of black smoke. What can I do about it?Updated 7 months ago
There may be several reasons:
The wicks are too long.
We recommend cutting them back to 0.6 cm, even during burning if necessary.
The candle has been burning too long.
Once the wax surface is completely liquid, we recommend extinguishing it within the hour. When the wax surface is liquid, the inside of the candle becomes hotter and a large quantity of wax evaporates through the wick. As a result, combustion is less stable and the flame starts to oscillate more. When a flame moves too much, it emits soot.
The candle is in an airstream.
This causes the flame to move and emit soot. In this case, turn the candle or move it carefully to a less exposed spot.
The inside of the vase has never been cleaned.
In this case, the soot that has accumulated inside the vase during previous burnings falls back into the wax when the glass becomes hot. This soot mixed with the wax burns poorly, producing black smoke. It is therefore advisable to regularly clean the inside of your candle with a cloth soaked in an alcohol-free product (never use a product containing alcohol to clean your candle).
The room where you burn your candle is too small.
All candles emit some soot. A MAX35 model with 7 wicks is quite high. You need a good ceiling height to allow the fumes to disperse. Candles of this size are recommended for large spaces.
Please note that Baobab Collection cannot be held responsible for breakage or damage caused by negligence or failure to comply with burning conditions.
